Columbus Beach Bungalows at the far end of Otres offers simple, quiet bungalows.
Otres is one of the last remaining quiet-ish spots in Sihanoukville, and Columbus Beach Bungalows on Otres 2 offers a (relatively) calm experience at the end of the beach. Columbus occupies a quiet part of the beach, with sun loungers for guests as well as covered seating directly on the sands of Otres.
The hotel is a collection of simple, two-story bungalows, each with a private bathroom on the ground floor, and a double bed on the top floor. The wooden bungalows have cute exteriors but rustic interiors, with a bed with a beat-up mosquito net and fan, and not much else. Each bungalow has a balcony, and some are look directly out onto the beach, while the others are set one row behind the seaview bungalows. There’s even one bungalow that, in keeping with Columbus Beach Bungalow’s nautical theme — their sign features a ship’s wheel — is shaped like a boat.
Lest you worry you might have to venture off the beach, Columbus Beach has a full bar and restaurant on site that’s equipped with WiFi and has a full menu filled with Western and Cambodian dishes, plus lots of beachy cocktails.
Access to the beach and the quiet part of Otres is definitely the main selling point of Columbus Beach Bungalows. Guests have complained that the bungalows are rarely cleaned during long-term stays, so make sure to confirm a cleaning schedule before booking.
In the low season, bungalows drop as low as $9, sea view rooms cost $3 more. In high season, though, prices climb to $25 per night.
